2026 – Week #2

I began this week feeling like I was already behind for the year. 100% mental of course. I attribute this to a fall-off in meditation minutes. Not a complete fall-off, but I was averaging about 20-30 minutes the few weeks prior. It's pretty apparent how going from that down to 10 minutes has a significant negative impact on my self-esteem. Comparison seeps in. The data scientists won, a little bit - but it's back to the inner self this week. Fish oil. Casein protein. All the good stuff for mind and body.

Deload week from marathon training. It's be 6 weeks of solid ramping. Much needed down-time. I've done 3 half-marathon lengths on 3 consecutive Sundays. I feel like I would've been injured by now if it wasn't for strength and conditioning. It's funny that I was doing a relatively solid amount of S&C but no running...It's like building a sturdy 4x4 but not going off-roading. What's the point? But now I do have a point. Several. Medals. And of course, the universally accepted "clout token" for social media. I'd by lying if I said I didn't want to project improvement. But the funny thing about being performative is...you're actually going to be performing good one day. Then it becomes "real" - whatever that means. Going from essentially couch to serious runner has been fun...but I need to pace myself (haha, hehe, hoho).

I'm back to focusing on TEFL certifications. I'm loving learning again. I think back to the teachers that I loved learning from, and why I loved those classes so much (notably around English writing). They were kind, genuine, had standards and it was obvious they cared. I hope I can emulate these traits and become a great teacher myself. And take these lessons into parenting also.

Doing the hard math on Softies...we're still pretty good from a cold launch perspective - but like any Type A personality being self-critical - there is more to be done. If we 3x our daily orders, then our 3PL costs even out. Right now, we're a start-up paying mid-size company shipping operations. It's nice to have the infrastructure in place, but now we need to up and momentum. A fun challenge.
